Location Description:

Hopkins, MN is home to our Michael Foods, Inc. corporate headquarters. Hopkins is located 7 miles west of Minneapolis, boasting natural surroundings in a suburban environment that also provides quick access to major travel ways and local restaurants that give our community a distinct character. Located in the Excelsior Crossing building where employees are provided with beautifully landscaped walking paths and water features creating an optimal environment for outdoor and walking meetings, along with the opportunity to take a relaxing walk or outdoor lunch before, within, or after your work day.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of food safety and quality information to customers via website-based information collection systems and questionnaires that are received.  All communication is facilitated by customer service unless the information is a direct website upload.  This position will ensure the guidelines established for details that can be shared with customers is strictly adhered to and will communicate to the supervisor or manager if deviations are requested.  Information is collected directly from plants, manager, and research that is confirmed from internet or other reliable sources. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects and maintains information from other MFI departments and plant locations to complete customer surveys and other requests.
  • Enters requested information into customer databases which includes but is not limited to product specifications, nutritional information, packaging details, and other information as requested within the scope of shareable criteria. Updates as needed or required.
  • Has a solid understanding of basic food safety and quality characteristics such as allergens, microbiology, physical/chemical attributes, and plant related information. Stays current with plant updates and general food safety information.
  • Is knowledgeable in religious food certifications and elective as well as restrictive dietary choices and requirements for dietary classifications.
  • Has a clear understanding of information that cannot be distributed.
  • Can competently review and compare MFI product specifications to customer product specifications and has a basic understanding of general product information contained in the specification.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by management.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a 2 year degree in Science, Food Science or other technical related field.
  • Prefer one year’s experience working with food requirements, labeling, regulations, or similar activities pertaining to administrative classifications of food; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Proficient computer skills in such programs as Excel, Word and SAP.
  • Ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams and plant staff.
  • Ability to research information independently.
  • Knowledge of web-based platforms and capability to navigate is beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills is necessary.
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Must be flexible and able to shift focus often and with little notice to accommodate business needs.
  • Ability to work individually and with other departments as necessary
