Electrical Technician/Lab Manager

Our client in the electrical industry is seeking an Electrical Technician/Lab Manager to join their team. As an Electrical Technician/Lab Manager, you will be part of the Lab Management team supporting the Electrical Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and proven ability to establish effective cross-functional working relationships which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: San Jose, CA

Pay Range: Based on experience

What's the Job?

  • Maintain detailed usage log of electrical lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power analyzers, etc.
  • Maintain detailed usage log of electrical power assets such as transformers, fuses, cables, etc.
  • Place and follow up purchase order requests and procure parts and equipment
  • Organize and label shelves and cabinets in the electrical lab for ease of access
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement ideas and 5S principles
  • Be flexible and willing to switch between tasks and priorities as needed
  • Prior knowledge of using pallet jacks and consistent record of putting safety first
  • Must be able to follow wiring diagrams and develop/implement/verify test setups
  • Perform complex and advanced assembly of products according to established specifications and instructions
  • Familiarity using hand and power tools such as wire strippers, manual/electric crimpers, impact drivers, drills, etc.
  • Perform quality checks on completed work

What's Needed?

  • Prior experience working with 400 Vdc and 480 Vac, or higher voltage systems
  • Basic computer skills and hand/power tool experience
  • Ability to solder and desolder, create cabling and wire harnesses, and assemble test stations
  • Familiarity with setup/operation of test/measuring test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.
  • Experience/familiarity creating requests-for-quotes, purchase requests and orders
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish effective cross-functional working relationships
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs unassisted
  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks inside and outside work environments
  • Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products as directed
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination
