Job Summary and Qualifications

The Cat Scan Tech produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas in accordance with established practices and procedures. The position's tasks and responsibilities include: 

  • Operates equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body 
  • Positions patients utilizing immobilization devices 
  • Moves equipment into specified positions and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance 
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns 
  • Assists physicians with invasive procedures 
  • Exposes and develops film 
  • Operates mobile equipment in operating room, emergency department or at patient's bedside 
  • Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems 
  • Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities 
  • Orients and mentors new staff members 
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff 
  • Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material 
  • Assists with transporting patients 
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required 

What qualifications you will need:

  • One year experience in Radiology or MRI preferred 
  • Prefer specific experience and training in CT Scan 
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology 
  • Florida State License in Radiologic Technology 
  • Current BCLS certification Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology 
  • ARRT certification in Radiology and CT, preferred 

Founded in 1974, HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital is a 317-bed acute care hospital. We offer a wide range of surgical and medical services. Our Center for Behavioral Health offers inpatient child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric services. Our outpatient services include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and a 24-hour behavioral health support hotline. We are a certified Baker Act Receiving Facility. Our Hospital is licensed by Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration. We are certified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. Our ER provides experienced, compassionate care for patients of all ages. This includes special accommodations for seniors. Our facility has a wound care center. We offer comprehensive diagnostic services that are accredited in multiple modalities. This includes pediatric CT imaging by the American College of Radiology.
