The Metrology Technician's role is to perform X-ray & CT Inspection Services as well as 3D scanning and inspection services on customer supplied products in accordance with customer requirements, written directions, and standard industry practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with industry leading companies to visualize the interior of their product using an NSI X5000 digital x-ray imaging system as well as GOM ATOS Scanbox, M3DI Variscan 3D scanning systems and Hexagon handheld and traditional CMMs.
  • Help customers with failure analysis, product development, R&D and production level projects by utilizing digital radiography and computed tomography equipment as well as contact and non-contact measuring equipment.
  • Develop DR and CT techniques and perform imaging on customer supplied product. Develop CMM programs and 3D scanning programs to perform dimensional inspection on customer supplied parts.
  • Reconstruct and compile scan data with completed deliverables as per customer requirements.
  • Develop creative sample fixturing methods to increase efficiency of the digital X-ray imaging, contact and non-contact inspection processes.
  • Work with Principal Engineer to quote projects and propose scanning solutions to meet and exceed customer’s requirements.
  • Customer service - interaction with clients and potential clients both on phone and in person to include webinars, onsite meetings, technical expertise, reports and presentations.
  • Perform post processing analysis on CT scan data as well as 3D scan data according to customer requirements such as metrology, CAD comparison, porosity analysis, fiber composite material analysis and inspection using Volume Graphics, Geomagic, Polyworks, PC DMIS and Origin Checkmate software.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of X-ray principals, CMM programming and structured light scanning
  • Volume Graphics and dimensional inspection analysis skills
  • Technical writing and general technical aptitude
