Job Summary and Qualifications- Administers all therapy modalities to adult patients per physician orders.
- Initiates, operates and monitors mechanical ventilators, and NIVV.
- Performs arterial puncture, and blood gas and electrolyte analysis.
- Responds to all Code Blue and Rapid Response Calls.
- Adheres to established quality control protocol.
- Verifies all physician orders prior to therapy.
- Conducts thorough, accurate report to oncoming staff.
- Enters all patient interventions and updates into Meditech.
- Enters therapy charges and supplies.
- Participates in all areas of departmental duties, including assistance in new employee orientation and continuing education.
- Performs equipment rounds, cleaning and routine maintenance where required.
- Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate Patient Education documentation modality.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Active Virginia Licensure – Respiratory Therapist.
Preferred: Five years adult critical care experience.
Strong clinical skills in mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis and oximetry.
EDUCATION
Required: High School Graduate
Active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from NBRC
