This schedule is day shift Monday-Friday.

Purpose & Impact:

The Janitor performs cleaning and maintenance activities as well as some repair activities including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting when professional licensure is not required. Ensures that facilities are clean, safe and functional. Participates in the PHS/EHS Quality Assurance efforts.

Essential Functions:

• Cleans facilities on a daily basis and ensures that assigned facilities are clean and free of hazards. Cleans classrooms, hallways, floors, bathrooms, offices, entrances, etc.
• Performs routine maintenance of buildings and grounds during program breaks and more often as needed.
• Performs routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and maintaining equipment used in course of work.
• Reports safety, sanitation and fire hazards to supervisor and/or staff person in charge of facilities.
• Performs outdoor tasks such as sweeping steps, porches and drives, maintaining parking lot, mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and trees, raking gravel or leaves, clearing parking areas, etc.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with Center staff and Operations staff.
• Attends safety and operational training as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Ability to clean and organize tasks and attention to detail are required, and the candidate must be able to meet designated deadlines. 

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional eligibility qualifications

• This is entry-level position. Some experience in cleaning and maintaining childcare or educational facilities preferred. 
• Must be able to learn and perform duties according to HS/EHS, LSF, and regulatory standards.
• Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area.
