NNL is seeking an engineer to research, develop, and troubleshoot the mechanical performance of reactor plant materials with a focus on power plant systems and structures. Responsibilities will include design of experiments, data analysis and interpretation, written and oral presentations of results, supporting fleet material and component manufacturing issues, and frequent formal communications with stakeholders. Specifically, the successful candidate will collaborate with the team to: • Support ongoing test programs including test method development • Support testing specimens in the Advanced Test Reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory • Support and sponsor mechanical testing and material characterization campaigns • Analyze, interpret, and report results • Develop guidance for structural analysis of nuclear plant components and systems • Support troubleshooting and evaluating material issues during component manufacture • Provide guidance to fleet power plant projects and new power plant design community on material issues and power plant material selection.Required Combination of Knowledge and SkillBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only); or SRE qualified and 6 years of experience.Preferred Skills• Experience in materials testing and characterization including metallography, electron microscopy, mechanical testing, and failure analysis. • Experience/understanding involving material fabrication processes, materials behavior, and materials properties • Metallurgy experience low alloy steels, stainless steels and nickel based alloy • Experience with environmental impact on metallics and non-metallics • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical information both verbally and in writing • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment • A combination of materials engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or nuclear engineering degrees or experience.Compensation and Benefits Health, Dental, Vision & Voluntary Benefits Disability, Life & Accident Insurance 401(k) Savings program & Captial Accumulation Plan Personal & Medical Time Off Paid Parental Leave Flexible Work Schedules Tuition Assistance for Eligible Employees Student Debt Benefit Personal Time Off Sell Program Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Wellness Program Visit us online to view all NNL benefits
Pay Range$92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guide line only.
