Welding Technology Instructor

Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal and Career & Technical Education Program Director, to develop students' welding technology skills, competencies and strengths that professionals in this industry possess, as well as provide knowledge needed; to develop practical welding skills for personal use or for use in industry occupations; and to encourage students to develop work and personal habits essential for success in the profession. Essential Functions

Individual may teacher grades 9-12: Introduction to Welding, Welding Technology I, Welding Technology II.
Serving as a classroom leader by providing high quality, differentiated instruction to students.
Setting rigorous academic and behavioral goals for students and investing students in these goals.
Implementing and effectively modifying instruction aligned to the district’s educational goals by focusing on high standards and achievement for all students.
Designing and implementing high-quality, thorough lesson, unit and long-term plans that equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to master daily objectives and grade level standard.
Co-planning with Special Education Teachers when necessary to ensure that the academic and behavioral needs of each student are met.
Continuously tracking student achievement data and using the data to inform instructional planning and delivery.
Preparing, leveraging and delivering constructive feedback to students aimed at improving their academic performance.
Consistently implementing and enforcing rules and consequences in the classroom setting and school-wide.
Providing continuous evaluation of student progress that is consistent with district established goals and policies, and clearly communicating this progress to all necessary stakeholders.
Maintaining, monitoring, and reporting students’ grade and attendance records.
Taking personal responsibility for students’ mastery of academic standards.
Effectively and innovatively incorporating technological resources into classroom lessons.
Committing to continual professional growth that leads students to achieve the greatest learning gains.
Communicating effectively with students, families and colleagues in order to invest all stakeholders in the learning process.
Attending and actively participating in all professional development, team planning and data analysis meetings.
Develops and administers welding technology curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Provides instruction on the use and development of skills in the use of office equipment, technology (including the use of computer network systems and applications, and business techniques such as those used in culinary arts.
Prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning.
Instructs students in use, care, and safe operation of kitchen equipment.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of the business community.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Knowledge of all aspects of the welding/manufacturing field.
Must be passionate about sharing skills and knowledge and committed to student achievement.
Ability to build achievement of district level goals.
Knowledge teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of manufacturing curriculum and concepts.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Welding industry experience required.
Teaching experience preferred.

Certification/License:
State Certification (or certifiable) in Welding/Manufacturing
Education:
Extensive work experience in the field or Welding Associate's degree preferred
