Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Division of Pediatric Nephrology is seeking two additional full-time board-certified/eligible Pediatric Nephrologists at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to join our dedicated team. Currently, the division comprises four faculty members, with a fifth faculty member joining in 2025, and a full-time dialysis nurse practitioner. We have comprehensive support, including full outpatient nursing staff, a dedicated social worker, dietician, outpatient HD and PD nursing staff, an apheresis staff, an inpatient HD and PD team, an active continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) program, and actively working on introducing the neonatal CKRT machines.
Position Highlights
The division delivers full-service outpatient and inpatient nephrology care, including dedicated pediatric HD, PD, and kidney transplantation services. Acute care services include CKRT, inpatient dialysis, and apheresis, along with consultative services for PICU, CICU, NICU, BMT, and general inpatient units. Our ESRD program supports 30-40 pediatric dialysis patients, with 8-15 kidney transplants performed annually and ongoing specialized care for 80+ kidney transplant patients. Our multidisciplinary approach includes clinical nurse specialists, pediatric-trained hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis nurses, renal dietitians, and social workers. Additionally, we run an active ABPM program and bone health clinic. We are expanding our dedicated subspecialty nephrology clinics, including antenatal/neonatal nephrology, kidney stone, tuberous sclerosis, and obesity/healthy lifestyle clinics, in collaboration with endocrinology, urology, cardiology/oncology, and neurology teams.
The applicants’ responsibilities will include clinical care and teaching medical students and pediatric residents from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. There are also opportunities to mentor medical students and residents in research activities. The Department of Pediatrics hosts approximately 84 residents, including primary care track and Med-Peds residents. Candidates with leadership aspirations, plans, and research goals are encouraged to apply, as the division offers opportunities for clinical and basic science research and leadership opportunities. Research activities can be pursued independently or collaboratively through existing initiatives within LLU School of Medicine, School of Public Health, Clinical Research Trials Center, and our AI-focused research group.

The division’s resources include a Clinical Trials Center, an AI focus group, and a research initiative group, emphasizing our commitment to advancing pediatric nephrology through innovative and collaborative approaches. Our AI group drives research projects that integrate AI into clinical care, enhancing diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
LLUCH is at the forefront of integrating AI technologies into clinical care to improve efficiency and support our healthcare professionals. Our current initiatives include the use of Ambient AI in outpatient settings to capture and document patient interactions seamlessly, allowing physicians to focus more on patient care rather than administrative documentation. Additionally, we employ AI-driven models to prioritize and address inbox messages effectively, ensuring timely responses and reducing the administrative load on providers (under testing). Our plans include expanding the implementation of AI methodologies that can streamline workflow processes, optimize scheduling, and automate routine tasks. These innovations aim to not only enhance patient care but also save physicians valuable time and reduce their administrative burden, thereby supporting efforts to decrease burnout and improve overall job satisfaction.

Compensation and Benefits
Base compensation ranges from $180,000 to $220,000, depending on experience and faculty rank. This amount excludes additional productivity-based compensation and follows department-specific plans. Further details on compensation are discussed during the recruitment process.
