OverviewWho We Are:Our team is comprised of engineers who specify, design, develop, integrate, and test instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for US Navy submarines.What We Do:Collaborating with systems and component engineers and the industrial security compliance office, cybersecurity engineers support the development and maintenance of shipboard equipment for a variety of submarine platforms. This equipment includes electrical systems for the propulsion and electric plant, as well as hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) systems. Cybersecurity engineers provide collaborative support to the teams who are developing shipboard control system components and the environments on which control system software is developed. The role of the cybersecurity engineer is to evaluate functional requirements, equipment operating context, and environments (shipyard and ship) and processes in order to provide recommendations and guidance with respect to cybersecurity controls, customer imposed security requirements, and practices. Their objective is to ensure that cybersecurity principles are applied to system designs for operational use as well as to the methods that are implemented for protecting the equipment during ship construction and test. Related responsibilities include equipment research, project management, risk management, preparing presentations, and participating in customer design reviews.Cybersecurity engineers on our team typically perform the following types of work:
Control system security analysis and design implementation, including the development of component specific requirements, working in close collaboration with component engineers
DoD/DoN platform information technology system analysis, development of security control implementation plans, system certification and continuous monitoring
Design, implementation, operation and maintenance of sensitive unclassified and classified computing systems in accordance with appropriate Naval Reactors and Defense Security Service (DCSA) security policies
Review of equipment vendor software deliverables to evaluate compliance with cybersecurity requirements
Acquisition of infrastructure used to configure shipboard systems and support of this infrastructure during shipyard testing

QualificationsRequired:
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Systems/Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
2-10 years of relevant system engineering and/or engineering experience
In-depth knowledge of computer network infrastructures and operating systems (Windows and Linux)
Candidates must be from outside operations (Casciano/Gabriel)
Preferred:
Master's degree in Systems/Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), A+ or equivalent certification
Understanding of NIST 800-53 documentation
US Navy submarine service
Active Final DoD SECRET clearance
In-depth knowledge of submarine propulsion systems, computer network infrastructures and operating systems (Windows and Linux)
Experience/Interest in security of control systems
