Federal Signal is currently looking for a Buyer at our University Park Location. The Buyer will be responsible for the coordination and execution of activities involved in the daily tactical management for the components related to assigned commodities.Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Daily management of commodities by assigned supplier including processing, expediting, maintaining MRP messages for all purchase orders.
ECR responsibilities for commodities assigned including authorizing via signature, coordinating use up or last time buy activities when applicable, and follow up to insure a successful ECR implementation.
Support, implement and sometimes develop cost reduction plans for assigned commodities and suppliers including negotiations, quoting, supplier consolidations, and long-term agreements/contracts.
Participate on projects via cross functional teams internally and externally to complete an assigned task.
Develop long term supplier relationships that are mutually beneficial to Federal Signal and the Supplier. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of supply constraints, and suggest strategies to mitigate risks.
Support and implement a supplier continuous improvement plan when necessary.
Solicit and evaluate quotations and competitive bidding for parts, materials and services.
Maintain accurate documentation / records for metrics reporting.
Conduct business reviews with suppliers as needed.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Procurement, Supply Chain or related field preferred or equivalent work experience in procurement in a manufacturing or supply chain environment required. APICS or CPSM certifications preferred.
2 years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supplier relationships and inventory planning in a manufacturing environment
Ability to analyze complex data, identify and execute savings opportunities, implement sourcing strategies and quickly execute tasks to realize benefits.
Ability to multi-task, coordinate strategies/activities across multiple business functions
Experience with financial and quantitative analysis
Solid problem solving, verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of management.
Strong Excel skills
Previous MRP/ERP experience preferred
Experience in working with supply chain programs such as blanket orders and VMI (Vendor-Managed Inventory)

Federal Signal has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer I based at our University Park, Illinois facility. This position is responsible for assisting in making decisions regarding engineering problems for products in our Police & Fire Division.Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops layouts concepts, parameters and designs for new and existing product re-designs.
Performs analysis as required to insure meeting product performance and reliability requirements.
Conducts feasibility studies and prepares preliminary cost estimates of designs and redesigns.
Assists in generating detail specifications of individual components of a new design and replacement components in end of life and cost reductions projects.
Communicates with vendors where engineering is required to develop specifications for components and processes.
May write rough draft of changes to customer instruction sheet.
Builds prototype PC Boards as required for product development evaluation.
Works with Quality Control in approving vendor's parts.
Writes Engineering Change Requests and product structures.
May assist Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Assurance in vendor selection.
Assist functional engineering groups when required for Electrical/software support and development for New Product Development (NPD) efforts.
Utilize basic automotive electrical assembly knowledge methods.
Knowledge of power supply design preferred.
Knowledge of audio/amplifier design preferred.
Ability to learn and create schematic diagrams for electrical systems for new products and modifications for existing electrical systems.
Flexibility to perform other duties and assignments as required.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University
0-3 years of engineering experience
Basic troubleshooting skills
Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of C and Python programming languages
