Description Job Title: Structural Planner Reports To: Structural Planning Manager Pay Range: $25.00 - $34.00 Hourly DOE Summary: Work with planning team to develop structural plans and write technical work instructions for the production/execution team. This position also includes conducting on-site reviews of ships, performing technical reviews for coworkers, proper filing, providing accurate work status, and other duties as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities include: Production Planning (Core Function) Conduct structural inspections. Obtain IMIAs structural inspector certification. Identify, document and report deficiencies found onboard naval vessels. Work with production team to develop structural plans. Develop work packages for production use. Review work specification to develop work instructions for trades use. Interpret NAVSEA drawings, standards and specifications. Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements. Material Planning Develop job material list from technical references and drawings. Determine material sizes and quantities required. Resolve technical specification conflict or suitable substitutes. Assist purchasing finding qualified vendors. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to enter and work in confined spaces. Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Word and Excel Required) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (Structural/Weld drawing experience preferred) Ability to communicate effectively and multi-task Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items Familiarity with Government publications and standards for specifications and manuals. Working knowledge of Naval Ship repair & installation practices, specifically welding and fitting.
Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Experience: Minimum one (1) or more years in a shipyard production environment preferably in US Navy repair or new construction shipyards.
Working Conditions Most work performed in an office environment under pressured, fast-paced conditions; frequently requires overtime Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces
