Elsmere Presbyterian Church Child Care Center is a non-profit, ministry-based early childhood program committed to serving families in our community. We provide a safe, engaging, and faith-centered environment where children grow emotionally, socially, and academically.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and certified Child Care Center Director to lead our early learning program. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, program management, and fiscal accountability, along with proven experience managing Delaware’s Purchase of Care program.
You will collaborate closely with the Child Care Board, Pastor, and Session of Elsmere Presbyterian Church to ensure excellence in care, education, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily operations to ensure compliance with Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing standards.
· Lead enrollment, outreach, and marketing initiatives to sustain and grow the program.
· Assist the Child Care Center Board with and coordinate the centers enrollment into the Purchase of Care (POC) program and further coordinate and maintain participation moving forward, including: eligibility verification, billing, reporting, reconciliation, and family communication.
· Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and teacher training.
· Recruit, train, and evaluate teaching and support staff.
· Maintain open and supportive family relationships and community partnerships.
· Prepare and oversee annual and monthly budgets in collaboration with the Treasurer and Board.
· Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for children and staff.
· Evaluate program outcomes and lead continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications
Education (Delaware Licensing Requirements):
Associate or bachelor’s degree from a C-RAC Member accredited institution including 15 ECE credits in:
· Child development
· Curriculum/environment
· Social-emotional development
· Observation/assessment
· Early childhood elective
With 12 months of experience working with children ages birth through second grade in a group
OR
Associate or bachelor’s degree from a C-RAC Member accredited institution in Early Childhood Education with 12 months of experience working with children ages birth through second grade in a group
In addition to the above licensing requirements:
· 3–5+ years in early childhood leadership or center management.
· Experience with Purchase of Care (strongly preferred).
· Strong understanding of Delaware licensing, ECE best practices, and family engagement.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Passion for early childhood development and community-based ministry.
Compensation & Benefits
· Salary Starting between $65,000 and $70,000
