This incumbent is responsible for the safe set up of analog machines for the creation or repair of metallic and non-metallic parts to close tolerances in accordance with specifications or samples provided, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, and speed of machines; knowledge of the properties of metals such as: Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum and Hardened Steel, selecting proper materials, tooling and equipment required for this work. Fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment. Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times and maintain a clean and organized work area at all times. Performs other duties as assigned.Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:Shop environment in which mechanical equipment is operated, is loud and noisy, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components, routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Good verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of maintenance repairs on a variety of equipment.
Knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement.
Time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and schematics.
Experience with utilizing precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
Ability to stand for a prolong period of time performing repetitive tasks.
Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
