Melter

Incumbent will operate and maintain a variety of electric furnaces ranging in capacity from 50 pounds to 85 tons. Incumbent also operates gas furnaces for melting various materials and operates gas ovens for heat-treating and stress relieving parts. The incumbent is responsible for charging, refining, and pouring both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Producing metal of proper alloy and bringing it to correct pouring temperature.
Repairing or replacing furnace linings by working on bricklaying, patching and lining materials.

May assist directing work of one or more Molders in repairing, charging, and operating the furnace.

Qualifications Required for the Position

High school education
Must have knowledge and experience of operating and maintaining induction furnaces.
Basic understanding of metal characteristics (metallurgy), foundry furnaces and mathematics.
Ability to read and interpret metal specifications.
