Interested, apply today Primary responsibilities for the position include (but are not limited to) repair, corrective and preventative maintenance work on site cranes, hoists, air compressors, motor operated apparatus, tools, pumps, and other similar heavy industrial equipment and systems. Work on these systems includes installation, dismantling, assembling, replacing, troubleshooting, and repairing, rebuilding, refurbishing, fabricating parts, aligning, balancing, etc. Work may also include operation of machinery required to fabricate special pieces or parts needed for repair of equipment. Responding to trouble calls related to immediate issues to help maintain continuity of operations. Identify and develop improvements to existing facilities or methods of operation. Determine material requirements and select appropriate materials to perform a job. Receive written or oral instructions from supervisor. Work from complex drawings and engineering sketches. Follow equipment data sheet or job specification requirements. Install, align, calibrate, level, operate, adjust and check out plant equipment or machine tools. Test and correct balance on rotating parts such as impeller blades and rotors applicable to plant equipment. Operate machine tools to machine replacement parts or re-machine original parts. Make alterations or adaptations to machine tools in order to expand or modify the machine's utility. Assemble, align, and check operating functions of newly installed machinery. Assemble, disassemble, and install cell windows in the Materials Evaluation Laboratory Direct movement and installation of machine tools and equipment following supervisor's general instructions, observing all necessary safety precautions. Recommend and assist in the specification of materials needed to replenish on-hand parts and materials, and parts and materials needed to complete job assignments. Install new or replacement material as required by engineering changes or as deemed appropriate as skill of the craft. Able to obtain and maintain the following: P-307 crane operator qualification, rigger mechanic qualification and rigging gear inspector. Able to obtain and maintain a fork truck /telehandler qualification. Required Combination of Knowledge and SkillHigh school or vocational school graduate or the equivalent with the ability to read, write and perform general mathematics of the variety usually learned in a high school or vocational school course. Must pass a periodic physical examination. AND Completion of a state accredited skilled trades program resulting in an educational degree or equivalent in the field of this position with 4 years of experience OR Completion of a state approved certified apprenticeship program resulting in qualification of Journeyman or equivalent in the field of this position with 4 years of experience.Must be qualified, skilled and experienced with: Installation, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of overhead cranes, including below the hook lifting devices.
