Provides nursing leadership and coordinates patient care during assigned shifts.  Management of staffing and supply and demand of beds.  Is a representative of nursing and hospital administration and has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of CNO or Administrator on call.
Essential Functions

Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow.
Provides direct patient care as needed.
Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.
Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
Responds to complaints about patient care and related services and manages through established channels.
Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Must complete all education assigned and required for the position, including classroom and on-line courses.

Minimum EducationGraduate of a Program in Discipline - Registered Nursing
Required LicensesRegistered NurseCurrent Kentucky or compact state RN licensure required.
Required SkillsCertifications: American Heart Association (AHA) RequiredBasic Life Support (BLS) - AHA - Required to be current upon start of positionAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA - Required to be obtained within 6 months of start of positionPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA - Required to be obtained within 6 months of start of position
