I.                Summary
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that customer transportation needs are met by providing excellent customer service. Duties include creating and managing driver reporting, manages asset and personnel compliance, and facilitates shipments using transportation software systems. This career requires strong proficiency in Excel, knowledge of DOT laws and regulations, and one to two years of previous Transportation logistics experience.
II.             Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Creates and manages all driver reporting such as driver recovery, PNL’s, and driver’s hours.
Manages daily shipments with dispatch operational activities.
Tracks pick-ups and deliveries for efficiency and cost recoveries.
Follows and reinforces client guidelines and parameters.
Assists with creating customized SOP’s for transportation department.
Manages asset and personnel compliance data such as registrations, permitting, and licensing.
Responds timely to client requests and inquiries.
Manages shipment routing.
Tenders shipments to carriers.
Uses various transportation software systems to facilitate shipment and compliance.
Provides support on miscellaneous projects as needed.
Other job duties as assigned.

III.           Required Skills / Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication.
Knowledge of DOT laws and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent customer service skills.
Creative problem solving skills and the ability to resolve issues and provide solutions.

IV.           Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

 

1-2 years of Transportation logistics experience required.

 


Experience in scrap metal recycling industry preferred but not required.
