The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care by the nature and specific requirements of the department. The care is consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care. We use established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” Our clinical outcomes contribute to the overall departmental performance.
Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications, and escalates care concerns appropriately.
Nursing Diploma or ASN required; Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
HCA Florida Blake Hospital is a 383 bed hospital. We are the only state-designated Level II trauma center in Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. We have received verification by the American College of Surgeons. Our services include 24-hour emergency care, open-heart surgery, burn care, cancer care, joint replacement and inpatient rehabilitation. We have an onsite day care program, Happy Cubs, a 24 hour employee fitness center and a healthy work environment. We develop our colleagues through cross-training into new units and ongoing skills development. We offer continuing education courses and opportunities for advancement.
