To provide daily hygiene, assist with ADL's, and data collection in a timely and accurate manner. To transcribe medical plan of care, maintain work environment and communicate nursing care needs in a timely and accurate manner.
Formal Education / Training:
Certified or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred.
Patient Care Delivery
Equipment and Skills Training:
Network Computer System.
Medical-Surgical Unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age
Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
# Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
# Assists with data collection
# Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
# Assists with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.
# Transcribes medical plan of care.
# Provides clerical support.
# Documents accurately and timely.
# Facilitates staff development and assists in orientation of new employees.
# Handles/transports medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Formal Education / Training:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must respond to the hospital within 1 hour for "on call" requirements.
Previous scrub tech experience or graduate of scrub tech school
Scrub tech certification required
Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment for the following surgical specialties: general, AEM; plastic; obstetric/gynecologic; Network computer system, Omnicell Medication System, AT&T Language Line.
A surgical unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age
Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Collaborates with labor and delivery surgical team members to effectively coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
Anticipates and provides equipment and supplies in a timely manner and organized manner based on the needs of the patient and surgeon.
Creates and maintains a sterile field by using principles of aseptic practice in varying situations, initiates corrective action when break in technique occurs, communicates/documents maintenance of sterile field.
Handles/ transports/ prepares medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Performs counts by following established policy and procedures, initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect, and communicates results of counts.
Assists with control of the OR Suite and labor and delivery environment (temperature, humidity, and sensory) maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to OR sanitation policies.
Return equipment and supplies to proper place and prepare OR room for next case.
Demonstrates responsibility for cost containment using supplies judiciously and documents patient charges completely and accurately.
Facilitates staff development, assists with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participates in the development of educational program for co-workers.
Completes special assignments and unit duties.
