Duties The criteria indicated below are intended to describe various types of work that may be performed and are by no means all encompassing. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist students, teachers, and other members of the staff who require help in the selection of materials which will satisfy their special interests and needs and/or furnish necessary information for classroom assignments
- Promote small group interaction with students and assist students with interventions, behavioral and academic
- Provide assistance with formal student assessments, including rostering, ticketing, and managing test sessions
- Assist with classroom activities under the direction of a certified teacher
- Locate 'reserve' materials when a teacher or administrator requests materials pertaining to a unit of instruction or special project
- Assist in the circulation of books, periodicals, and audio-visual materials
- Maintain current displays of new books and periodicals, and discuss the new titles with students and adults in order to stimulate interest and use
- Notify students and teachers of overdue materials; calling parent(s) and/or mailing overdue notices to parents, as necessary
- Quote charges and collect moneys on lost materials, and send to the Business Office
- Prepare and change bulletin boards in the Learning Media Center (LMC) and other locations
- Post bibliography lists of new titles on the library bulletin board, and distribute copies to the administration and faculty
- Read shelves and files frequently to ensure that all materials are in their proper location and accessible to users
- Print monthly circulation reports
- Assist in the taking of the annual inventory, and arrange the collection in correct shelf order
- Assist the District Librarian in unpacking and checking books received against the purchase order; place on shelves awaiting classification
- Provide supervision at lunch/recess
- Assist in coordinating school book fairs
- Management of Reading Incentive programs
- Maintain the copy machine including check and replenish printer paper and ink cartridges when needed. Fix printer when paper becomes lodged in the printer and contact vendor when needed to fix copy machine
- Inventory technology equipment as needed
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, faculty, staff, and administration
- Performs daily within an atmosphere of cooperation, friendliness, and service, gets along well with others
- Is able to complete work assignments in a timely, efficient, and effective manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Paraprofessional Educator License Registered in Region 07
- High School Diploma
- Basic office and organizational skills
- Computer knowledge and experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Able to record and communicate information accurately and effectively
- Two to three years experience is preferred
- Bilingual Preferred
