Registered Nurse Educator Emergency Department at Intermountain Health summary:
The Registered Nurse Educator in the Emergency Department is responsible for supporting and guiding healthcare professionals in their ongoing education and development. This role involves assessing and addressing the learning needs of caregivers while providing individual and group education to patients and families. In collaboration with healthcare teams, the Nurse Educator acts as a resource and consultant to enhance patient care and execute effective educational strategies.
The Nurse Educator will be an expert in industry education standards supporting and guiding caregivers in self-improvement and self-development. orientation and ongoing learning needs in alignment with their associated program, service or care group. Under the direction of the Education Manager will be a resource, consultant, and mentor to caregivers and clinical coaches in their assigned area fostering self-reliance and building a social team.The RN Educator may be asked to travel to various locations to perform their work duties.
Shifts: 53/hourly
Provides clinical expertise relating to assigned area for patients, families as well as for avariety of healthcare professionals. Utilizes nursing process for each patient through the nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Assist in coordinating a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care with other members of the care team.
Provides individual and group education to patients and families. Provides accurate assessments of a patient's physical and emotional status, identify learning needs and any unique special requirements needed to facilitate a positive learning environment for the patient, patient support/family and the community in the applicable specialty area.
Acts as a resource person to healthcare professionals in the hospital, home care and the community regarding specialty area.
Develops communication tools to support effective education and disease management.
Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required
Three (3) years relevant nursing experience and two years is required
Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Previous formal education activities is preferred

Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required
Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients both verbally and written.
Demonstrate an understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies.
Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
Knowledge of adult learning competencies and patient teaching skills.
Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, functions, and related community resources.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital
