VPPPA is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and detail-oriented candidate for the position of Membership Sales & Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales and marketing focus to promote the value of VPPPA membership to current, lapsed and prospective members. This position will oversee the day-to-day functions related to member relations, ensure member satisfaction, and expand our membership base through targeted sales strategies.

This position will report to, and collaborate with, the Director of Membership & Business Development to manage membership recruitment, engagement, and retention while performing database management and administration tasks. This position will collaborate directly with other VPPPA departments to achieve the association’s shared goals. The position offers a hybrid/remote working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales and Outreach: Develop and implement sales strategies to recruit new members and retain existing ones through telephone solicitation, prospecting, and follow-up.
  2. Member Relations: Serve as members' primary point of contact, promptly and professionally addressing inquiries and concerns.
  3. Membership Management: Work with the Director of Membership & Business Development to develop and execute the membership onboarding, renewal and lapsed member process; track membership statistics; and execute retention strategies.
  4. Database Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records in the association management system (AMS).
  5. Engagement Initiatives: Collaborate with VPPPA team members across departments to develop and execute member engagement initiatives, including content for webinars, newsletters, publications and other digital and print media.
  6. Communication: Collaborate with other departments to inform members about upcoming events, benefits, and organizational updates in a timely manner.
  7. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on membership metrics and trends for review by VPPPA leadership.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred. Experience related to the performance of the position responsibilities will be considered in place of education.
  1. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in membership management, business development, or a sales-focused role. Experience working for a nonprofit organization or trade association preferred.
  2. Travel: up to 20%, including chapter and national events.

Desired Skills

  1. Strong sales, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  2. Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  3. Detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated.
  4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products, including Teams.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  6. Experience in implementing marketing plans and campaigns.
  7. Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
  8. Metrics-driven marketing mind with an eye for creativity.
  9. Ability to take ownership of a process and to use problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
  10. Knowledge of A2Z, MC Trade, PropFuel, Canva, and other association management applications is preferred.
  11. Demonstrated ability to securely handle confidential information.

During conferences and events, longer work hours are expected, with many hours standing or walking. This setting may also require lifting up to 20 pounds. 

The person in this role may travel to regional VPPPA events to support the participant registration process; as well as travel to other association events when necessary.
