This role requires a seasoned professional with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), development tools, distributed systems, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, and DevOps practices.**Responsibilities*** **Infrastructure Development**: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring it supports the company’s software development and deployment needs.* **Tooling and Automation**: Develop and maintain a suite of tools to automate deployment, monitoring, and management of infrastructure, improving efficiency and reliability.* **Distributed Systems Management**: Oversee the architecture and management of distributed systems, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.* **SRE and Observability:** Implement SRE best practices to enhance system reliability and performance, and build observability into the infrastructure to enable proactive issue detection and resolution.* **DevOps Collaboration:** Work closely with the DevOps team to streamline CI/CD pipelines and facilitate smooth deployment cycles.* **Incident Management:** Lead incident response and post-mortem analysis to continuously improve infrastructure resilience.* **Cost Optimization:** Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising on performance.**Qualifications*** **Experience**: 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a strong background in GCP and cloud-based environments.* **Cloud Expertise:** In-depth knowledge of GCP services, cloud architecture, and best practices for cloud security and compliance.* **Dev Tools Proficiency:** Experience with a wide range of development tools and deployment automation technologies.* **Distributed Systems:** Strong understanding of distributed system design and management.* **SRE and Observability:**Demonstrated experience implementing SRE principles and building observability into complex systems.* **DevOps Practices**: Familiarity with DevOps culture and practices, and experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools.* **Problem-Solving**: Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to address infrastructure issues efficiently.* **Communication:** Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and articulating technical concepts.* **Education:** A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.At Athena, work actually works for you.
