Summary The Store Manager effectively and efficiently directs the multiproduct retail store. The Store Manager ensures performance of all functions necessary to manage and operate a Goodwill store with emphasis placed on collection, processing, and sale of donated and/or purchased goods. Meets establish revenue goals while optimizing the level of production within budgeted expense levels. Maintain standards for store presentation, organization and layout facility, quality control and safety in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include resource utilization and human resource management. The Store Manager must provide support services by collaborating with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages. Essential Functions Provide leadership, training and coaching to all store personnel. Manage a successful retail goal that drives store productivity and profitability. Manage resources maximising collections, production, sales, and salvage and customer service. Motivate the team to deliver high results, and other standards. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for human resource management. Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines employees within the framework of Goodwill policies and procedures and job descriptions. Ability to manage and mediate human resource issues and resolve grievances at the store level, or to expand to DM and or HR. Ability to plan and organize store and production work schedules to meet demands and specifications of store and donation center. Reviews monthly store revenue and expenses; operates the store at or above goal. Ensures high standards of donor and customer relations through prompt, efficient, friendly, and courteous service by store personnel. Ensures that store security (i.e., relating to theft, pilferage, handling transition of deposits to armored services, access to facilities, etc.) is maintained according to company policies and procedures. Prepare weekly store schedules, break schedules, and daily "to do" lists or delegate the task to an appropriate team member. Generate various data reports and handle all banking functions related to the store, which include preparing bank deposits for armored services pick up and getting change. Promote on-going training through daily store meetings and other appropriate means to ensure the use of productive sales techniques, and to update store personnel with all Goodwill policies and procedures. Maintains adequate volume of merchandise displayed on sales floor, ensuring daily production goals following the SOP to reach revenue goals. Ability to gather, analyze, record and express production information on a verbal, written and automated basis. Responsible for maintaining stock rotation in all departments. Responsible for new product profitability by maintaining accurate record keeping and inventories. Outgoing shipments of merchandise must meet interagency and outside trucking standards. Keep abreast of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through monthly comparative shopping of competitors (i.e., retail, consignment, and second‑hand thrift), and review of industry periodicals. Responsible for maintaining quality control standards, addressing, and resolving problems, ensuring the continuous on‑going improvements of processes, procedures, and schedules. Communicates all related issues to proper chain of command (i.e., Safety and Loss Prevention, HR). Maintains the store in a clean and orderly manner to encourage sales, provide a pleasant shopping and working environment, and to ensure employee and customer safety. Ensure carts, totes, cages, dollies, and other material handling equipment are available and put into the system for use by the other stores. Recommends materials, equipment, and other supply purchases for the store within limits established by Goodwill policy. Attends meetings and training activities as scheduled. Keeps employees informed of donors, production, and sales goals and how to maximize each. Evaluates productivity of all work performed. Effectively supervises all employees as well as creates teamwork within the facility. Maintains processing room and offices to work within Kaizen parameters. Greets every customer/donor with "Good Morning/Afternoon" as they routinely perform their duties offering assistance as indicated and thank them for their purchase/donor. Maintains acceptable attendance, personal hygiene, and dress code standards including wearing company issued name badges. Demonstrates excellent work habits for employees and program participants, maintaining a good attitude towards the operation of the entire facility, and is a positive role model for individuals receiving rehabilitation services. Ensures all safety rules are adhered to, and the general upkeep of your area meets the standards of Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. Report’s accidents or injuries immediately. Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso and Inc. and the persons receiving services. Assist in other areas as requested. Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Minimum three to five years of progressively responsible experience in retail and production setting; must include supervisory experience, store security, organization and planning, customer relations, and general store operations. Experience in working with figures and have speed and accuracy in making computations. (Math skills will include fractions, decimals, and percentages. Experience in operating a cash register, counting money, and making change accurately. Ability to screen, hire and direct training of staff for a variety of stores, production, and donation center positions. Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently as required. Ability to seek out internal and external resources to accomplish desired results. Ability to motivate others to act, delegate job duties, and hold team members accountable for the completion of responsibilities. Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance, must be able to drive to locations. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with customers, donors, staff, employees, and visitors. Computer skills necessary. Ability to relate effectively with a wide variety of personalities and work in a stressful challenging environment. Ability to follow written or verbal instructions. Must be able to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends). Ability to travel to various locations on agency business. Must be willing to transfer to other stores as requested. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co‑workers, customers, donors, and persons receiving services. Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance. Ability to provide support services by working with disabled/disadvantaged persons and assisting in the rehabilitation process of Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. Physical Demands Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. and be able to stand for prolonged periods at a time; bend, reach and stretch repeatedly during a shift.
