AWT Labels & Packaging is currently searching for a Logistics Supervisor at our Minneapolis production facility focused on labeling and packaging conversion. The Logistics Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the shipping department. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate shipping processes, managing a team of shipping personnel, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a deep understanding of logistics and shipping operations.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the shipping team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures the daily ship log is met to the best of our ability – oversees work allocation and reviews with team at the end of day to ensure all needs are met.
  • Monitors three-day shipping report to understand upcoming resource needs.
  • Coordinates with Finishing and Packaging on tight timelines as needed.
  • Ensures the team is working their scheduled hours weekly and coordinates use of approved OT during week and weekends as needed.
  • Coordinates and schedules staff to ensure timely cycle counts are completed and best practices are being maintained for accurate inventory counts and valuation.
  • Coordinates late day shipments, expedited shipments, or any shipment out of regular business hours.
  • Works on CARs and PARs with the team as assigned.
  • Drives improvement to our processes as ideas are presented.
  • Ensures that appropriate protection is given to the product to prevent damage during shipping.
  • Ensures all paperwork is completed accurately and legibly and follows the appropriate workflow. Follows up as needed on inaccurate information or paperwork.
  • Ensures special shipping requirements on job order and specifications are met.
  • Ensures that product is safely loaded on to trucks or moved to storage as appropriate.
  • Serves as a good communicator between functional areas and departments, including addressing or resolving any shipping-related issues or customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Performs daily shipping tasks as needed – including filling in for vacancies, month-end, or other periods of increased activity.
  • Ensures safety rules are followed daily.
  • Utilizes logistics software and portals to assist with processing and tracking/managing shipments. This includes the oversight and training of customer portal use.
  • Develops and maintains work instructions for shipping activities.
  • Provides support for and files shipping claims as needed.
  • Reviews adjustments related to Finished Goods Cycle Counts and communicates/reviews with Controller.
  • Is actively involved with the day-to-day activities and is aware of department workload and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Fosters a positive and productive work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience to Meet Job Requirements:

  • Works well with others as well as alone; excellent attention to detail and numbers; good communication skills; good computer skills, including experience with experience shipping in UPS WorldShip; Federal Express On-line; and Miscellaneous Truck Lines.
  • High School – OR Equivalent GED, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, shipping, or a related field, and at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
