Job Description Drives supplier onboarding /auditing and improving supplier performance including quality through Score Card. Works with sourcing team and procurement team ensuring raw materials quality supports supply chain strategies and objectives. Assures that purchased parts and assemblies are tooled and processed to meet optimum quality, quantity, and cost requirements. Provides subject matter expertise in the use of quality/business tools, techniques, and methodologies. Utilizes advanced problem‑solving tools to lead the implementation of continuous improvement activities that directly impact business metrics and performance. The ideal candidate for a Supplier Development and Quality Engineer would be able to do the following: Rapidly respond to and address supplier quality and performance issues that are impacting daily manufacturing operations utilizing a corrective action process. Coordinate efforts required to develop, implement, and verify manufacturing control systems at suppliers. Promote design for manufacturability by working with Product Engineering and suppliers to review and modify tolerances/specifications on both new and existing designs. Support various elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including review and sign‑off of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing to prepare suppliers for new product launch so as to minimize impact to the business. Review key internal quality metrics (NCM, PPM, Warranty, etc.) and identify, initiate, and complete corrective/preventive actions to achieve desired performance targets. Lead on‑site supplier process assessments and quality systems audits, recommending improvements and monitoring implementation of changes. Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement initiatives to yield timely and effective solutions to complex manufacturing and/or quality problems. Support the standardization of quality/business methods, measures and tools. Assist in the identification of value engineering and process improvements that result in cost reduction opportunities. Lead key Supply Chain Management elements of the Quality Management System to maintain internal ISO compliance/registration. Lead and mentor employees in the use of quality tools, problem solving techniques, and methodologies to measure, monitor, report, and improve business performance. Qualifications BS Degree in Quality, Engineering, or Business. A minimum of five (5) years Supplier Development, Supplier Quality, or Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to teach problem‑solving and quality system management practices. Ability to systematically gather/analyze data to make decisions and provide recommendations that solve problems and prevent recurrence. Prior experience in Supply chain function of procurement and/or sourcing highly desired. Ability to effectively communicate/work with and influence all levels of an organization, both internally and externally. Proven success in the use of and mentoring of Problem‑Solving methods. Working knowledge of measurement and statistical process control techniques. Hands‑on experience and demonstrated success in the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). High proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, BI tools), SQL data queries, etc. Advanced Problem Solving (Six Sigma Black Belt) certification highly desirable. ASQ (CQE, CQM, Lead Assessor) certifications highly desirable. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time; frequently on short notice.
