Job DescriptionPosition SummaryAs an industrial Pipefitter you will be responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping and piping systems and equipment for steam, hot water, and industrial processing systems.Specific responsibilitiesQualification HighlightsMust have good leadership and communication skills.Must have experience on an industrial construction project.Position ResponsibilitiesRead blueprints, ISO's and specification to determine the scope of work.Identify all tools required for tasks.Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.Ability to field verify measurements, pull own field measurements.Figure fitting take offs, calculate basic, simple and complex offsets, calculate to fabricate odd angle fittings.Install valves, supports and flanges inside piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.Selecting type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, knowledge of system operation, and study of building plans / working drawingsPlanning sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and cutting pipe.Threading pipe by hand or with pipe threading machineSecuring pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand toolsCutting, beveling and prepping pipe and fittingsRequired QualificationsMust pass written pipe fitter test prior to job being offered.Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience.Ability to read prints and construction drawings.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions.Demonstrate knowledge on the pipe fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components for a coal fired power plant.Good problem-solving abilities.Good aptitude and manual dexterity.Good reading comprehension.Ability to work with others - team player.Ability to work independently - minimal supervision.Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.Ability to follow directions from direct supervisor and QA/QC Department.Required Tools1 - Metal Too- Box with Lock 1 - 24" Level2 - Torpedo Magnetic Level 2- 25' Tape Measure1 - Center Finder 1 - 3lb to 4lb Ball Peen Hammer2 - 12" x 24" Framing Square 1 - 4" Wraparound1 - String Level 2 - 12" Crescent Wrench1 - 8" Crescent Wrench 1 - 3lb to 4lb Ball Peen Hammer1 - 14" Pipe Wrench 1 - Center Punch1 - 24" Pipe Wrench 1 - Wire Cutters1 - Pipefitter's Blue Book 1 - Plumb Bob2 - 420 Channel Locks 1 - Set of Tip Cleaners1 - Torch Lighter (Striker) 1 - Chalk Line 1 - Line Up Bar 1 - Calculator 1 - Combination Set - Tri-Square, Protractor, and Center FinderAdditional Requirements Successfully complete basic Plus Safety Training Pass pre-employment physical. Successful DISA Background check Successful DISA Drug and Alcohol ScreeningPhysical RequirementsEmployee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.Will talk and hear to communicate.Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.May be required to lift, carry and move up to 40lbs.Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off of platforms.
