The Baltimore, MD office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with an interest in developing both field and analytical skills, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team. Job Responsibilities:Supervise subsurface explorations at project siteLog test borings and other in-situ testsUse GIS and GPS to aid in planning and executing geotechnical field workOversight of subcontractors including drillers, and traffic controlCreate basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GISAssign and review laboratory testsPerform calculations to support geotechnical designsProvide support on preparation of geotechnical reports and proposalsObserve geotechnical-related construction and perform materials testingPlan and coordinate subsurface explorations and geotechnical testing field workPrepare field reportsRequired Skills/Experience:0-2 years of professional experienceBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related engineering fieldfrom an ABET accredited UniversityExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to multi-taskStrong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvementWillingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several weeks to months away from the officeAbility to lift 50 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outsideMust possess Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or have ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.Preferred Skills/Experience:Prior internship or professional work in a related field (i.e. geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering, etc.)Master’s degree in relevant fieldOther Requirements:Must possess a valid driver’s license as driving is an essential function of the jobAbility to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit checkAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screeningThe compensation range for this position is between$57,200 to $86,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
