The Exterior Division Manager oversees the Exterior Landscaping Division, Snow Removal and Holiday Installation.


This position is responsible for managing all operating processes supporting the delivery, installation and profitability of exterior landscape and snow removal services. They are responsible for managing the operating processes supporting delivery and installation as well as take down of holiday décor. This includes direct oversight of facilities, vehicles, equipment, materials and people related to those operations.


**REQUIRES: AT LEAST

5 years experience in a previous landscaping position / experience in a professional landscaping position AND

2+ years management experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Business or related field strongly preferred.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and promotes a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing Plantscape safety standards and adhering to legal regulations, including OSHA regulations and driving standards.
  • Monitors financial performance of division and provides guidance to correct deficiencies. Assists with budgeting for the division.
  • Monitors and advises Production Managers on contract renewals, assuring financial metrics are being achieved.
  • In collaboration with the Sales Manager, works with Account Manager to sell services for exterior department, assuring financial metrics are being achieved.
  • Collaborates with Sales Manager to coordinate and identify sales opportunities based on division goals. Assists in identifying opportunities to sell existing customers our other services (interior landscaping, holiday décor, replica plants)
  • Responsible for production team’s execution of sales to achieve budgeted profit.
  • Directs and monitors all exterior division functions related to organization, purchasing, shipping, receiving, storage and operations.
  • Oversees, coaches and mentors the execution of the management team’s operational plans weekly, monthly, seasonally, and annually.
  • Directly hires at manager level. Determines division organizational and workforce needs and assists with hiring at staff level.
  • Creates a positive, team-focused work environment, striving for continuous improvement and growth of our people.
  • Monitors evaluation process for all direct and indirect reports for fairness and timeliness; provides constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Ensures team is trained and able to provide services to customers that meet or exceed Plantscape and client standards.
  • Ensures processes are in place to monitor vehicles, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Participates in Senior Leadership meetings and company business planning.
  • Oversees and executes safe, successful, and profitable installation of our holiday business. Advises Sales team on technical information needed to sell installation profitably.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Has direct supervisory responsibility for manager and administrators in the exterior division.


Position Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in landscaping or related industry; 2+ years management experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Business or related field strongly preferred.
  • Valid drivers license required, physical and drug screen required
  • Strategic thinking and departmental planning; ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Ability to coach, train, and motivate others.
  • Knowledge of a majority of Exterior Landscaping services, including installation, maintenance, irrigation, pesticide/turf application, snow removal, etc.
  • Knowledge of aspects of Snow Removal techniques and products.
  • Proficient computer skills (including Microsoft Suite of products) and ability to learn additional computer programs.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to collaborate with others.


Requirements:

Physical Requirements

Sufficient manual dexterity to perform landscape functions using hand and power tools such as pruning shears, shovels, rakes, mowers, weed whackers, etc. Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stand for long periods of time, and traverse uneven surfaces. Must be able to move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and move weights of up to 100 pounds occasionally. This position also spends considerable time at a desk using a computer. This position frequently utilizes standard office equipment such as computer, printers, and scanners. This position moves about the office including around objects.

Work Environment

This job requires employees to work frequently in outdoor weather conditions including extremes of heat and cold, humidity, and precipitation. This position may include exposure to certain toxic chemicals. This position is exposed to allergens such as pollens, insects, and chemicals. This position also works regularly in a typical office work environment, which includes equipment noise and frequent interruptions.
