Principal Investigator – Proteomics Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a CRO Principal Investigator, Proteomics for a direct-hire position at a cutting‑edge client in San Diego, CA . In this role, you will lead complex proteomics projects, drive scientific innovation, and manage client relationships in a regulated CRO environment. You’ll be responsible for integrating multi‑omics data, mentoring teams, and setting the benchmark for scientific excellence. Responsibilities: Collaborate with top‑tier experts to promote personal and professional growth through enriching training initiatives. Manage projects between clients and internal wet‑ and dry‑lab teams to ensure deliverables are met. Develop research strategies, study plans, and reports. Review mass spectrometry spectra and perform compound identification. Ensure results meet quality and regulatory standards. Compile data and results into final presentations and data packages. Prioritize and organize multiple projects to meet timelines and deliverables. Interpret scientific results and stay current with literature and technological advancements. Manage 15+ client programs, participate in study design, and orchestrate seamless handoff of information between clients and laboratory personnel. Qualifications: PhD/MD in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmacology, or related life science discipline; or equivalent experience (BS + 10 years, MS + 5 years). Minimum 5 years of experience in CRO, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology. Expertise in LC‑MS/MS instrumentation (Orbitrap, Q‑TOF, timsTOF) and data analysis pipelines (DDA, DIA, PRM, MRM/SRM, TMT/iTRAQ, PTM). Proven ability to design and execute complex proteomics experiments. 5 years of leadership experience managing scientific projects and teams. Experience in client‑facing roles and cross‑functional collaboration. Exposure to metabolomics and proteomics methodologies. Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret complex data. Excellent communication skills for scientific presentations and mentoring. Collaborative spirit and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams. Detail‑oriented and committed to producing accurate, reliable results. Up‑to‑date with advancements in precision medicine.
