Base pay range $75.00/hr - $92.00/hr Direct message the job poster from Net2Source (N2S) Duration: 06 Month Contract (Potential to Extend) Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated NMR Scientist (Contract) to join our client's Oncology Analytical and Synthesis Technologies – Open Access group in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and eager to make an impact in small molecule drug discovery. This role focuses on advanced structural elucidation, troubleshooting NMR instrumentation, workflow optimization, and driving innovation in analytical chemistry. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment that runs thousands of automated experiments each month, delivering rapid small molecule structure elucidations to accelerate drug discovery. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with NMR spectrometers. Solve complex regio- and stereoisomer structures by NMR. Lead and coordinate NMR lab relocation activities. Drive automation and workflow improvements in NMR processes. Develop efficient approaches to structural elucidation of small molecule compounds. Support analytical chemistry strategies through implementation of innovative techniques and automation. Build strong cross-functional partnerships with synthetic chemistry, technology, pharmaceutical sciences, and process chemistry groups. Communicate results and insights clearly to internal stakeholders through written and verbal updates. Maintain a strong commitment to laboratory safety and compliance. Hard Skills Proficiency in Bruker NMR platforms. Experience with NMR hardware setup, operation, and troubleshooting. Proven expertise in structural elucidation of regio- and stereoisomers by NMR. Ability to lead and coordinate NMR lab relocations and operational readiness. Qualifications – Must Have Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field (Advanced degree preferred). Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on experience in compound structural analysis using NMR and Mass Spectrometry. Working knowledge of NMR instrumentation and hardware maintenance. Familiarity with HPLC, purification, and standard laboratory techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary and fast‑paced environments. Demonstrated commitment to laboratory safety, documentation, and quality standards. Nice to Have Broad knowledge of analytical software packages (e.g., Bruker, ACD Labs, Agilent, etc.). Experience developing/executing workflows for parallel purification and compound analysis. Familiarity with lab setup and logistics post‑site relocation. Strong problem‑solving mindset and adaptability in complex technical environments.
