Responsibilities:
-
Provide clear, understandable instructions to help patients navigate the healthcare system and ensure continuity of care by following up on unresolved questions or needs.
-
Assist with administrative tasks, including scanning medical records and faxing documents, to support office efficiency.
-
Guide patients through self-arrival technology or check them in at the desk based on their preference.
-
Schedule ancillary services or connect patients to resources for scheduling during checkout.
-
Apply service recovery principles to address and resolve issues, ensuring that the UPMC Experience standards are met.
-
Educate patients about financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources as necessary.
-
Obtain patient or family member signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility, adhering to HIPAA rules and regulations.
-
Confirm and verify insurance benefits through online systems or phone inquiries, and promote and assist with MyUPMC patient portal registration.
Required:
- Completion of high school graduate or equivalent
Preferred:
-
Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills
-
Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function
-
Knowledge of medical terminology
-
Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 34
