Contra Costa County Behavioral Health Services seeks a board-eligible/certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to serve in one of our regional behavioral health clinics – San Pablo, Concord, and Antioch. The position is part-time to full-time.The salary range is $283,482.72 - $322,139.40 annually, or $211.20 per hour as an Independent Contractor.We offer the choice of two compensation pathways. The first is as a County Employee, which offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including vacation, sick leave, County-funded malpractice insurance, retirement plan, health benefits, and reimbursement of professional expenses. The second compensation pathway is an Independent Contractor, which includes an hourly rate and County-funded malpractice insurance.ResponsibilitiesConducting psychiatric assessments (120 minutes) and follow-up visits (60 minutes)Making diagnoses and developing comprehensive case historiesCreating treatment plans and prescribing medicationsCoordinating with consulting medical specialistsActing as physician member of a multi-disciplinary teamConferring with the relatives and loved ones of patientsMaintaining electronic records according to the standards of BHS and other regulatory agenciesRequirementsBoard Certification or completion of an accredited psychiatric residency programLicense to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of CaliforniaPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of current developments, trends, and research in the field of psychiatry, medicine, and addictionFamiliarity with community mental health practice and program optionsUnderstanding of psychopharmacology, including laws regarding informed consent, dosage ranges, drug incompatibilities, and side effectsGeneral medicine and its relationship to psychiatrySubstance use disorders and their relationship to psychiatryPsychiatric principles and practicesTreatment approaches and differential diagnosis of the mentally illHIPAA regulationsMedical ethics as they relate to patient careSkillsDiagnose and treat patientsDevelop and monitor appropriate treatment plansEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, patients, and patient familiesLearn and apply laws and regulations governing California health service providersMaintain medical records adhering to the standards of BHS and regulatory agenciesApplications are now being accepted.
