Banquet Bartender will be responsible for providing friendly, attentive, unobtrusive and accurate service, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, and ensuring responsible alcohol service to create an exceptional banquet event dining experience. Ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.
Position: Banquet Bartender

Reports to: Director of Catering & Conventions

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Banquet Bartender will be responsible for providing friendly, attentive, unobtrusive and accurate service, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, and ensuring responsible alcohol service to create an exceptional banquet event dining experience. Ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Essential Functions
  • General knowledge of cocktail crafting and mixology fundamentals
  • Curate guests' bar experience by making recommendations
  • Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors and wines
  • Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
  • Knowledge of proper cocktail making, as trained by Luminary Hotel & Co.
  • Have necessary tools to run the shift such as pen, corkscrew, any bar tools, etc.
  • Acknowledge guest in all public spaces with a warm and friendly greeting
  • Assist in the setup of banquet tables, buffet and coffee stations for events according to banquet event order (BEO). Serve food and beverage items. Bussing and clearing all tables during events and when events finished
  • Ensure cleanliness of function areas before and after functions. Clear tables and return all equipment to their respective areas. Ensure back function areas are clean at the end of event
  • Ensure service safety by transporting all equipment in the proper manner. Be responsible for handling of all equipment and ensure that all spills and breakage are attended to immediately
  • Gather all equipment necessary to service a function and maintain a clear and immaculate service area
  • Ensures event area set ups are accurate and presented in a timely manner
  • Ensures compliance with all cash handling and bill handling policies and procedures
  • Assist guest with any specials requests
  • Ability to communicate with manager on inventory needs, i.e. chairs, tables, and banquet linens
  • Professional communication while using technology
  • Respect all guests, team members, and management by maintaining a positive, friendly attitude
  • Ability to interact with guests and share hotel knowledge using personalization, such as using the guest name
  • Ability to take initiative and handle assignments with limited supervision
  • Follow all hotel policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standard
  • Performs service recovery when required to ensure complete guest satisfaction
  • Performs opening and closing side work
  • Adheres to responsible alcohol service guidelines
  • Understands Luminary Hotel & Co. menu ingredients, as well as overall operation, philosophy, activities and services in order to better answer guest questions
  • Adheres to Luminary Hotel & Co. standards for guest service
  • Reports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests
Hotel Performance
  • Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on the GSS according to Marriott
Qualification Standards

Education & Experience
  • Must have at least 2-3 years' experience as a bartender, preferably in upscale hotel or resort.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, breakfast, lunch and or dinner shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Ability to learn and master the POS system. Experience with Oracle MICROS POS is a plus.
  • ServSafe certified
  • High School diploma or higher
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads
