At Dawood Engineering, Inc., we provide multi-disciplined consulting services for a wide range of industries encompassing Transportation, Energy & Land Planning/Site Development.

We are currently seeking a Survey Drafter to join our team in our Braintree, MA office.

As a Survey Drafter, you will perform a variety of independent drafting duties in the field of Land Surveying and design technology. You will use current technology to perform a variety of office technical tasks associated with land surveys utilized for the location, design, and/or construction of roads, structures, geotechnical, flood control projects, storm water facilities, recreational facilities, land development, subdivisions, or other engineering projects, transportation planning, traffic control of highways, energy exploration, energy development, and/or other designs. This position may also be asked to assist other departments with basic drafting tasks.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of drafting and document preparation duties involving the creation of maps of survey, plans, sketches, exhibits, 3D models, and sheet sets based on field collected and processed survey data by others on the team
  • Checks calculated stakeout points and CAD products of others as needed with direction from supervisors
  • Generates various project CAD deliverables, conventional survey/engineering plans, and/or digital CAD files, based on individual client needs as specified by the assigned project manager
  • Aids in preparation of field packets for field crews to use on upcoming jobs
  • Aids in the creation of field views to verify data plots and ensure land features are as depicted on project survey maps
  • Reports recurring field errors in coding, line work, or incorrect field note format to co-workers and supervisors as needed
  • Works with different software packages as needed and adheres to basic CAD standards and company drafting standards
  • Assures quality control of their work prior to forwarding to survey technicians, surveyors, and engineers
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • H.S. Diploma
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training
  • Must be a team player, who possesses excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Current vehicle driver's license in the employee's state of residence
  • Autodesk Certified Professional preferred
