Comprehensive Ophthalmologist - Cataract & Glaucoma FocusMcAllen, TX | Thurmond Eye Associates | In partnership with Ascend Vision PartnersPractice OverviewThurmond Eye Associates, a trusted provider of high-quality ophthalmic care for over 60 years, is seeking a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist with strong interest and experience in cataract and glaucoma management and surgery.With seven clinical locations across the Rio Grande Valley and a dedicated outpatient surgery center (Raider Surgical Center), we serve a diverse and growing patient population that requires comprehensive medical and surgical eye care. This is a high-volume practice supported by well-trained staff and administrative infrastructure through Ascend Vision Partners, allowing physicians to focus on clinical excellence.Position HighlightsPerform advanced cataract surgery, including phacoemulsification and premium IOLsDiagnose and manage glaucoma, with access to MIGS and laser proceduresHigh surgical volume from day one, with a built-in referral networkDedicated block time in ASC with state-of-the-art equipmentStrong OD-MD co-management model in placeCollaborative team of ophthalmologists and optometristsEfficient clinical flow supported by 2 scribes and 3 technicians per providerCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary with production incentivesRelocation assistance and sign-on package availableFull benefits: health, retirement plan, malpractice, CME, licensing, and PTOStudent loan repayment options available4- or 5-day workweek options (Monday-Friday)Leadership and partnership tracks available for long-term growthSupportive administrative leadership and physician-led governanceIdeal CandidateMD or DO with board certification/eligibility in OphthalmologyFellowship training in glaucoma is welcome but not requiredStrong interest in cataract surgery and managing glaucomaComfortable practicing in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical settingSpanish-speaking ability is a plus but not requiredEnthusiastic about community-based, team-oriented careWhy McAllen?McAllen is a vibrant, family-friendly community in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley.
