Position Title: Research and Development Lab Technologist 1 (R&D Technologist 1)

Location:        Houma, Louisiana

Reporting to:  Manager of Technology – Houston

 

Essential Functions

The R&D Lab Technologist 1 is responsible for working within the Technology Department to support the daily activities of Benoit’s product and production development programs which include, but not limited to, data collection and analysis from testing and machining operations, working within the Technology Laboratory supporting testing and validation of products. Supporting testing of operational efficiency improvements.

Role and Responsibilities

·       consulting with internal and external clients to determine Design of Experiments

·       assisting with testing new OCTG products to industry standards on a customized universal testing machine

·       assisting in the development and implementation of new testing equipment and protocols

·       understanding and using specialized computer applications and workflows for testing

·       investigating corrosion and material failure

·       conducting laboratory-based analysis of samples

·       using both destructive and non-destructive techniques to test materials

·       utilizing documentation practices to report testing status to assist in understanding methods of failure

·       ensuring adherence to manufacturing quality standards

·       adhering to operational quality control processes

Required Qualifications:


Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written in English

Strong organizational skills: ability to delegate, plan, and schedule accordingly

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on product development

Be an innovative thinker and an established problem-solver

Ability to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future


Preferred Qualifications:


A degree in ferrous based metallurgy, material science/technology or similar materials-based engineering science

          Python or similar coding/scripting experience
