DescriptionAs a Sterile Processing Technologist, under the supervision of a registered nurse, responsibilities include but are not limited to providing individualized care to the surgical patient, demonstrating an extensive knowledge base of a variety of surgical procedures. Per the needs of the center on a regular and/or as needed basis, under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the Sterile Processor ensures proper care and maintenance for all surgical instrumentation, equipment and sterilization processes. Demonstrates good knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic technique. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment, instruments, procedures and supplies used in the operating room. Able to work under pressure and in situations that demand patience, tact and endurance. Provides on-going and continual communication with Operating Room staff. Communicates special equipment needs as they arise. Monitors the daily schedule for changes in instrumentation. Sterile Processor works within the framework set forth by the Policies and Procedures, philosophy, and objectives of Brunswick Surgery Center, LLCRequirementsSkills & Abilities:Able to work independently and meet established deadlines. Able to make sound reasonable decisions Good organizational and decision-making skillsAbility to concentrate on many detailed requests despite numerous interruptionsDemonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.Ability to identify and calmly handle inherently stressful situation with tact.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to develop excellent working relationships with co-workers.Demonstrates professional and self-development through continuing education.Seeks guidance, direction and assistance when needed.Manual dexterity in handling instruments.Function as a team in the OR and demonstrate the ability to work under stress with all types of situations.Training & Education:High School graduate or GEDCompletion of Surgical Tech program by an Accredited InstitutionMust be able to communicate and understand the English language both verbal and written.BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.Certification of Sterile Processing preferredMinimum 1 year operating room experience preferred.Minimum 1 year sterile processing experience preferred.Familiar with instruments and equipment related to perioperative nursing.Ability to work well with people under deadlines and stressAbility to be flexible and take on new responsibilities
