Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty: Post Anesthesia Recovery (PACU)

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Nights - 6pm/6am; On-call required

Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 hours per week

Experience: One year of experience preferred in nursing skills and knowledge base specific to the specialty

License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC

Certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/or ENPC Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Must-Have: Related work experience and required certifications

Job Description:
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient and family education by assessing learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs.
- Provide relationship-based care, striving to understand what is most important to each individual and actively engaging them in all aspects of care, delivered with respect for cultural differences and diversity.
- Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with patient and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed, seeking learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance.
- Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations, taking action to achieve goals identified during evaluations.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to enhance clinical knowledge, role performance, and understanding of professional issues.
