Controls Engineer – High Speed Manufacturing We’re hiring a Controls Engineer to support and improve the automation systems inside a high-volume consumer manufacturing facility in the Greater Boston area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on plant‑floor work with PLCs, HMIs, and electrical systems in a fast‑moving production environment. If you thrive in discrete / packaging automation (not pharma/DeltaV/MES), you’ll feel right at home here. Location: Boston, MA Employment Type: On‑site, full‑time | Electrical & Automation Systems Compensation: $125k-145k plus bonus What You’ll Work On Troubleshooting, modifying, and supporting Allen‑Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix). Updating and developing FactoryTalk View HMI screens. Designing and redlining AutoCAD Electrical schematics and industrial control panels. Supporting automation for conveyors, packaging machinery, robotics, and motion systems. Tuning VFDs, servos, sensors, and safety circuits for reliable high‑speed operation. Leading and supporting equipment installs, upgrades, and commissioning. Collaborating daily with Maintenance & Production to eliminate downtime and improve line efficiency. What We’re Looking For 3–8 years in controls or automation engineering within food, beverage, CPG, or discrete/high‑speed manufacturing. Strong hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000). Experience developing or maintaining FactoryTalk View HMIs. Ability to read, design, and troubleshoot electrical schematics (AutoCAD Electrical preferred). Knowledge of robotics, packaging systems, VFDs, servo motion. Someone comfortable working on the floor, on the equipment, solving problems in real time.
