Clinical Operations Director – Open Cities Health Center POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Operations Director is responsible for the strategic oversight, leadership, and day‑to‑day management of clinical operational functions across Open Cities Health Center's service lines. This role ensures high‑quality, efficiency, and compliant delivery of patient care services, facilitates interdepartmental coordination, and drives performance improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership Experience: Progression from roles like charge nurse, unit coordinator, or nurse manager. Develop and execute operational strategies that enhance clinical service delivery, access, efficiency, and patient outcomes. Collaborate with executive leadership to plan and implement initiatives that support growth, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement. Translate clinical goals into operational processes, workflows, and measurable performance targets. Communication Skills Collaborate with co‑workers and leaders by example. Resilient and not afraid to address conflict and tough challenges. Finds or develops solutions to issues with department leaders. Demonstrates active listening to ensure productive conversation. Communicates the CEO’s intent to all health center departments. Team Building Build camaraderie and cohesiveness with the health center departments. Identify talent and maximize individual skills. Develop emerging leaders and inspire the team to work together. Crisis Management Stay calm under pressure while being agile and flexible in stressful circumstances. Apply critical thinking skills to difficult situations. Resolve conflict in a way that’s respectful to all parties involved. Assess potential risks and provide workable solutions to problems. Operational Management Oversee daily operations of clinical departments, including staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and service line development. Monitor and improve key operational metrics such as patient throughput, provider productivity, and clinic efficiency. Implement standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and high‑quality care delivery across all sites or programs. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight Ensure clinical operational practices are in compliance with all applicable laws, accreditation standards (e.g., HRSA, OSHA), and payer requirements. Collaborate with Quality, Risk Management, and Compliance departments on audits, incident reviews, and corrective actions. Technology & Innovation Collaborate with the Nurse Informatics Officer and the Information Technology Officer to leverage health IT systems (e.g., EHR, scheduling platforms, RPM tools) to streamline workflows and support care coordination. Support digital health initiatives such as telehealth, remote monitoring, and patient engagement platforms. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Healthcare Administration; Preferred Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), or Master of Business Administration (MBA) • 3 years of clinical and administrative experience • 5 years of management experience within a hospital or healthcare center SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Certifications in Nursing Executive Leadership; Certified Nurse Educator, and Informatics Nursing Certification can enhance a candidate's qualifications. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. In-depth skills in project management and leading committees. Proficiency with EHR systems and clinical operations platforms.
