**Description**
**SUMMARY:** The Assembler I constructs D-Sub & High-Density Connectors and/or sub-assemblies by performing various standardized techniques and operations using simple hand and mechanical tools.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.*
Prepares assembly area: Determines materials and machinery by reading work orders, following production drawings and/or receiving verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed. Verifies parts by comparing provided part with part description in work documentation.
Builds assemblies and sub assemblies: Aligns components and parts in specified relationships to each other in fixtures and/or other handling devices, using various hand tools and mechanical devices.
Maintains record of work progress: Records results of job and/or problems with job in work documentation. Verifies quantity of lot by hand counting or weigh counting using standard scales.
Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Unit Manager.
May be required to perform basic test functions by using soldering tools and machines, and operating ultra-sonic welder.
Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on tools as required.
**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:** This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Periodically assists in other production areas at the discretion of the Unit Manager or Supervisor.
Provides training and back-up as requested by Unit Manager or Supervisor.
Occasionally degreases parts at various stages of production using cleaning solutions and equipment.
**MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
High School Diploma or equivalent AND 1-2 years of related assembly experience
**CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:** None required. J-STD-001 certification desirable
**OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
Basic reading and comprehension
Manual dexterity
Good verbal communication
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
Knowledge of manufacturing, operating and inspection techniques.
Knowledge of quality control plans.
