OverviewEnvironmental Health and Safety Specialist in our Miramar, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, promoting and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety standards in accordance with all Federal and State regulations for Garmin Properties.Essential FunctionsCoordinate and maintain training of Garmin’s safety and environmental programsMaintain and update companywide Material Safety Data sheetsAdminister company-wide safety management and conduct training for programs such as Hazard Communications, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, Hazardous Material Disposal and Emergency ManagementRepresent Garmin International to external organizations regarding facility environmental health and safetyMaintain hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs by collecting and disposing of materials in accordance with Federal and State standardsMonitor for changes in OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) or other applicable regulatory agencies that may affect ongoing business activitiesMaintain accident investigation and near miss reports for incidents on Garmin propertyResponsible for developing process improvements on existing safety programsConduct site inspections to assess compliance with company environmental safety plansMonitor contractor safety programsProvide continuous, swift, and accurate feedback to OperationsManagement regarding all safety mattersAssist in maintaining established departmental policies and proceduresCoordinate and track EHS communication and participationAssist with evaluations of equipment and processes to ensure associate safetyFacilitate conflict resolutionBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related Health or Safety field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceDemonstrated knowledge of safety, hazardous materials and environmental regulation and practicesMust possess demonstrated project management experience relevant to Garmin’s business needs for performing the essential functions of this roleMust possess demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and state and federal regulationsMust be familiar with and possess a working knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse processes relevant for successful performance of this roleDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational linesMust possess proficiency using Microsoft software including Word and ExcelDetail-oriented and work proactively and effectively with little supervision while exercising sound judgment and must demonstrate a high level of professionalismDesired QualificationsSafety or environmental related Professional Certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH, CHMM)Hazard Analysis experienceGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
