Essential Functions:

The Drafter is responsible for creating a technical draft of architects' and engineers' designs using various software applications. Their duties include analyzing schematics and blueprints, comparing specifications to the draft, and ensuring the accuracy of all features for future utility installations.

Pay Rate: $28.00 - $35.00

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collecting Structural Materials: Gather material and equipment specifications required for designs.
  • Calculating Dimensions and Weight Limitations: Determine dimensions, weight limitations, and measurements for designs.
  • Drafting Designs Using CAD Software: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings and designs.
  • Creating Diagrams and Layouts: Illustrate the workflow of designs through diagrams and layouts.
  • Collaborating with the Design Team: Review drawings and designs in collaboration with other team members.
  • Adjusting Drawings Based on Feedback: Make necessary adjustments to drawings according to feedback from engineers or architects.
  • Ensuring Compliance with Regulations and Quality Standards: Ensure that designs adhere to company regulations and quality standards. Ensure that designs adhere to County and Municipality Standards.
  • Setting Up Drawing Formats and Configuration Files: Prepare drawing formats and configuration files.
  • Drafts and creates routine to moderately complex detailed drawings, sketches, and profiles used in the planning or construction of various physical projects or products.
  • Follows directions to conceive of or create form and design variations for consideration.
  • Uses extensive knowledge of computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
  • Examines and analyzes plans for potential cost and engineering consideration. Draws preliminary sketches of proposed product or project.
  • Assists with the drafting of final drawings.
  • Uses mathematical formulas for calculations frequently.
  • May utilize CAD/CAM/CAE or other mini or PC technology. May require drafting certification.

  • Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling tools.

  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers.
  • English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
Experience and Education:
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a design drafter or in a similar role.
  • Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of CAD software, drawing programs, and 3D modeling tools such as SmartDraw, SketchUp, AutoCad, SolidWorks, and / or Esri ARC Pro. Working knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Design Principles: Excellent knowledge of architectural and engineering design principles.
  • Understanding of drafting practices and standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Solid math and analytical skills.
  • Deadline-Oriented: Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Preferred Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, design, or a related field.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Possession of a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
