Position Summary – The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the Chief Academic Affairs officer of the College, responsible for the academic enterprise, policy, and procedures. The VPAA sets the vision and leads the division in pursuit of teaching excellence and student success. Essential Functions Teaching Excellence Serves as the Cabinet Lead for the Teaching Excellence strategic theme. Assists in defining the theme and aligning it to the College mission. Appoints project leads and holds periodic meetings with leaders. Monitors progress and provides campus updates. Advances teaching excellence and student learning through collaboration. Demonstrates commitment to evidence‑based practice by using data to make decisions. Holistic Student Support Leads the College’s Strategic Enrollment Management work. Develops an academic schedule that facilitates student completion and success. Collaborates with other division vice presidents to support student success. Program Innovation Creates innovative programs responsive to educational and workforce changes. Establishes connections to workforce and education leaders. Seeks alternate funding sources to strengthen teaching, learning and outcomes. Fiscal Stewardship Responsible fiscal stewardship of the Academic Affairs Division funds. Leads development of division budgets aligned with College priorities. Ensures investments in faculty release time reflect strategic priorities. Ensures the academic schedule and enrollment maximize resources. Organizational Culture Provides leadership that aligns with College values. Sets vision for professional development of faculty and staff. Sets expectations and accountability measures. Facilitates effective processes engaging academic leaders and faculty. Leads policy review and development aligned with laws and TBR guidelines. Knowledge, Skills and Work Characteristics Ability to lead in a manner that reflects the values. Proficient communication with multiple audiences. High emotional intelligence. Strategic thinking and collaborative decision making. Builds strategic partnerships internally and externally. Uses data to inform decision‑making. Adapts quickly to change and communicates the “why”. Commits to continuous improvement and PDCA cycle. Qualifications Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution, 5‑7 years of teaching experience in higher education.
