Full‑Time Assistant Store Manager (Grand Opening) When you join our team as an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll take on key store management responsibilities, including supervising day‑to‑day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, managing schedules, and developing operational action plans while identifying training opportunities to develop and grow the team. Position Type: Full‑Time Average Hours: 38 hours per week Starting Wage: $24.50 per hour Wage Increase: Year 2 – $25.50 per hour Duties and Responsibilities Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports Understands and communicates the company strategy and core values Monitors local competitive environment and informs the direct leader of necessary adjustments Provides product feedback and makes recommendations on product assortment Participates in the interview process for store personnel Communicates information including weekly updates, milestones, and concerns Ensures staff adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies Handles operational customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence Identifies and rectifies hazards, ensuring ergonomics and proper equipment maintenance Maintains store cleanliness and signage standards Supports stock level maintenance through appropriate product ordering Merchandises products neatly to maximize sales Ensures product quality, freshness, and accurate signage Assists the direct leader with payroll, loss budgeting, inventory counts, and staff training Supervises day‑to‑day operations of staff, escalating issues as needed Ensures direct reports complete duties timely and effectively to provide best customer service Complies with company policies while protecting security and confidentiality Other duties as assigned Physical Demands Ability to stock merchandise, including shelving items up to 45 lb Required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk frequently around the store Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations Job Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to work independently and within a team Ability to lead others in providing prompt, courteous customer service Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances growth and performance Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures Ability to set goals and guide employee performance Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others Understanding of budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses Proficiency in operating a cash register accurately Proficient in operating equipment (hand jack, floor scrubber, cardboard baler) and performing cleaning duties to company standards Excellent verbal and written communication skills Organized, multitasking, and detail‑oriented Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages (if applicable) Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred) Minimum 3 years of progressive retail experience Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge Prior management experience preferred Benefits 401(k) Plan Company 401(k) matching contributions Employee Assistance Program (EAP) PerkSpot National Discount Program Medical, Prescription, Dental & Vision Insurance Generous vacation time & 7 paid holidays Up to 6 weeks paid parental leave at 100 % of pay Up to 2 weeks paid caregiver leave at 100 % of pay Short‑ and long‑term disability insurance Life, Dependent Life and AD&D insurance Voluntary term life insurance ALDI is committed to equal opportunity for all employees and applicants.
