Summary Description: Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis seeks a Law Librarian to manage the Firm’s information research services and library operations in all offices. The position is based in the Firm’s office in Iselin, New Jersey.

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Runs day-to-day operations of the Firm’s libraries, working with library clerk(s), outside vendors, Accounting Department personnel, the Director of Administration and Library Partner.
Responds to user requests for information from internal and external resources, onsite and offsite materials, and print and non-print media on legal, business, and general topics.
Conducts legal, general, and business research (including alerts) for attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, using electronic and print resources. Routinely bills time for reference/research.
Identifies online electronic resources and develops research strategies for attorneys and other staff members.
Responsible for retrieving legislative and regulatory histories as other archival records from the NJ State Library.
Knowledge of the Court system and ability to search and retrieve materials from state and federal dockets.
Works with Library Partner to develop and maintain the Firm’s electronic and print research tools, including negotiation with outside vendors, collaborating with Departments and interdisciplinary practice groups to identify tools and services to add or decommission, and ensuring compliance with vendor contractual obligations.
Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including copyright, regarding the use of library materials and resources.
Conducts library orientations and assists in research training programs for new attorney and paralegal hires, as well as summer associates and part-time law clerks, to ensure effective, client-focused utilization of the firm’s research tool and services.
Assists with development or assembly of documentation and training materials for library research and electronic resource instruction programs.
Stays current with new and developing trends in information research, technology, and library services by participating in professional organizations (including New Jersey Law Librarians Association – membership required at Firm expense).
Develop and maintain relationships with librarians at other New Jersey law firms.
CLE Accreditation—Administers the Firm’s CLE programs to deliver the highest-quality courses and ensure compliance with State CLE requirements.

Position Requirements:

A JD Degree from an ABA-accredited law school or a Master’s Degree in Library Science (M.L.S.) or equivalent from library school accredited by the American Library Association.
At least three years of related experience.
Proficiency in legal research using print and digital resources.
Demonstrated internet and computer skills, including Word and other Office 365 programs.
High-level oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Thorough understanding of library principles and methods of archiving, circulating, and organizing materials.
Comprehensive understanding of issues and emerging trends affecting libraries, law libraries, legal education, and information technology.

Skill in:

Communicating effectively with attorneys and non-attorney personnel in critical positions.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software programs.

Ability to:

Troubleshoot highly sensitive or confidential issues; personally ensure problem resolution.
Identify barriers to effective customer service and set service standards.
To perform exhaustive research when required.

Physical Demand/Work Environment: Work is performed within a routine office environment without exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting, or carrying objects of lightweight may be required.
