Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor – Legal Information and Prosecutions Division Join to apply for the Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor role at City of Chicago Department of Law. The City of Chicago Law Department is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor to lead attorneys in the Legal Information and Prosecutions (“LIP”) Division. This division represents the City in prosecuting municipal ordinance violations in the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Chicago Department of Administrative Hearings. The ACC Supervisor will report directly to the Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Prosecution Group and work under the general supervision of the City Prosecutor. The ACC Supervisor will collaborate closely with various City departments and officials, including the Department of Buildings, the Department of Streets and Sanitation, and the Chicago Police Department. The ACC Supervisor will have supervisory responsibility over a range of matters, including but not limited to client counseling and training on municipal prosecution. The Supervisor will also handle all phases of litigation in their own cases, including preparing pleadings and motions of varying complexity, appearing in court and administrative hearings, conducting settlement conferences, and managing discovery. This role involves direct interaction with the public. Additionally, the ACC Supervisor will oversee Assistant Corporation Counsels in all phases of their assigned cases, training, and projects. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities A minimum of three (3) years of experience in state and/or federal court;Superior research skills;Excellent logic skills and the ability to think, act, and prioritize quickly;Strong litigation skills, including trial experience;Exceptional client counseling and organizational skills;Superior communication skills (written/verbal);Demonstrates use of sound judgment;The ability to work well with others;The ability to communicate well with others including groups, judiciary and high-level officials;Demonstrates leadership ability and initiative on assigned tasks;Demonstrates ability to organize, prioritize, monitor, and control workflow deadlines. Preference May Be Given To Candidates Possessing The Following At least three (3) years of experience handling matters involving governmental agencies.Experience in litigating on behalf of government agencies in state court and administrative hearings.Experience providing client counseling, including high level officials.Experience working with short deadlines.Experience working with the media.Experience supervising staff attorneys.Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degreeAdmission to the Illinois Bar (or eligible for admission on motion to the Illinois Bar pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 705), good standing with your state Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission.
