About Work:
We are looking for a seasoned Principal Engineer with deep expertise in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), particularly in the areas of spatial computing, image and video processing, and visualization applications. In this hands-on role, you will be an individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced signal processing algorithms for our radar-based health and safety platforms. This position demands a robust understanding of signal processing theory and its real-time application on embedded platforms. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to help envision, architect, and prioritize the platform’s signal processing features. While not required, experience in Machine Learning, especially related to image, video, and radar data processing, would be highly beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
As a subject-matter expert (SME) in a dynamic team of SMEs, you will leverage your DSP expertise to:
- Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms for embedded hardware platforms using both high-level and assembly languages to ensure real-time performance and resource efficiency.
- Analyze and interpret signal data to enhance detection, tracking, and classification performance.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of DSP components.
- Work closely with hardware engineers to optimize algorithms for specific hardware architectures and assist in system integration.
- Conduct performance evaluations and simulations to validate algorithm performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Create high-quality data visualizations to present results and improvements.
- Perform system-level integration and testing of signal processing components.
- Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts and progress to both your team and other departments, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in DSP methodologies and technologies.
- Hire, train, and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Key Technical Requirements
To excel in this role, you should be proficient across the entire engineering lifecycle, from system design to algorithm development, testing, and optimization, culminating in successful product launches. Specifically, you should have:
- Extensive knowledge of signal processing techniques, including filtering, modulation, demodulation, spectral analysis, Fourier transforms, and statistical signal processing.
- Familiarity with radar tracking methodologies such as alpha-beta filters, Kalman filters, or multi-hypothesis trackers (MHT).
- Proficiency in implementing signal processing algorithms using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
- Experience with data science tools like NumPy/Scikit-learn and cloud services such as Google Cloud Platform.
- A solid understanding of software development methodologies and version control systems.
